Modo Consciente is coming to co.co.haus!

The Modo Consciente Collective will be opening a Pop-Up Shop in our space during the holiday season. This collective represents a group of women entrepreneurs and designers committed to the social transformation of Puerto Rico through local manufacturing and fair fashion practices.

What began as a series of casual events composed by these individuals with similar vision and mission, has developed into a formal collective of Puerto Rican brands that want to make a difference by creating opportunities through diversity in the creative field, adopting a modern and sustainable approach to the garment and jewelry industry.

The mission of Modo Consciente is to promote ethically made local designs, serve as an educational platform for responsible consumption, and position Puerto Rico as a destination for conscious fashion.

Modo Consciente in the haus

Although each brand has its own online store, they recognize the importance of sharing their designs in person and connecting with the community. In this new pop-up shop within co.co.haus, visitors will be able to see and appreciate the collective’s pieces in person, meet the designers, as well as purchase gifts designed and made in Puerto Rico for this Holiday Season.

And it’s not by chance they’re in the haus! co.co.haus is a collaborative and multidisciplinary space that aims to create a variety of alliances within its community, in order to advance the island’s economic output and prosperity. It’s not like 3 of our core pillars are community, collaboration, and sustainability.

When can I go!?

The Modo Consciente Shop will be open starting on November 10, 2021, from Wednesday to Saturday, 11am – 7pm. They’ll be located in co.co.haus’ kitchen area. You can come by at any time within those hours, and you can purchase a day pass if you want to stay to work!

The origins of Modo Consciente

Modo Consciente was created in the midst of the pandemic due to the need these local brands had to come together to amplify their voices and create a movement.  They believe in taking local action while being a part of a global movement that aspires to unite people and organizations working to change the way the products we wear are made, produced and consumed. They strive to create products made in a just and responsible manner, or “fair trade”. One of the collective’s main pillars is the “slow fashion” model – a counterpart to “fast fashion” – promoting the values of just trade, quality, limited quantities, care, and respect for the environment and social wellbeing across the fashion industry. They promote the use of natural fabrics, recycled materials, zero waste methods, and traditional and contemporary artisanal techniques.
